About the Department

The School of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Edenberg is committed to developing compassionate and skilled healthcare professionals dedicated to improving the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities across Zambia and Africa. Our programs provide students with the knowledge, skills, and ethical foundation necessary for effective practice in diverse healthcare settings.

With the increasing demand for qualified healthcare professionals in Zambia and the region, our graduates are well-prepared to address critical health challenges, promote public health, and provide essential medical care. The School of Health and Medical Sciences operates an exclusive campus equipped with modern classrooms featuring smart boards, LCD projectors, unlimited Wi-Fi access, and dedicated student learning spaces. The school also houses state-of-the-art laboratories, including:

Programme Offered

  1. Pre-Medical Foundation Course
  2. Diploma in Registered Nursing (Dip. RN)
  3. Diploma in Clinical Medicine (Dip. COG)
  4. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB)
  5. Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSc.PH)
  6. Master of Science in Public Health (MSc.PH)

Duration of the Programme

Pre-Medical Foundation Course – 1 Year (2 Semesters)
Diploma Programs – 3 Years (6 Semesters)
Undergraduate Programme - 4 Years (8 Semesters)
Postgraduate Programme - 2 Years (4 Semesters), with the final semester dedicated to dissertation and research projects.

Mode of Delivery

The School of Health and Medical Sciences offers flexible and student-centered learning approaches, including:

On-campus Lectures and Seminars – Traditional in-person classes that facilitate direct interaction between students and faculty.
Online Learning – Digital platforms for lectures, assignments, and discussions, providing flexibility while maintaining high academic standards.
Clinical Practicum – Hands-on experience in healthcare settings such as hospitals, clinics, and public health organizations, ensuring students apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings.
Research and Capstone Projects –Independent study supported by faculty mentorship, utilizing university research resources to explore medical issues and contribute to scientific knowledge.

Entry Requirements

Diploma Programme

A Grade Twelve (12) Certificate with 5 Credits or better in English Language, Mathematics, Science or Biology and any other two (2) subjects in the Zambian School Certificate or General School Certificate of Education or Cambridge International Examinations or Equivalent.

Bachelor Degree Programme

A Grade Twelve (12) Certificate with 5 Credits or better in English Language, Mathematics, Science and any other two (2) subjects in the Zambian School Certificate or General School Certificate of Education or Cambridge International Examinations or Equivalent. or Diploma in the relevant field to be admitted to second year.

Master Degree Programme

A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution relevant to the programme.
